A wonderfull introduction to Northern India, the Taj Mahal, wildlife and magnificent scenery. Accompanied by a local naturalist from beginning to end, this fascinating tour includes a number of game drives on a trail of the exclusive Tiger, plus a chance to see other flora and fauna in another part of India's most revered national parks.
Day 1 - Fly from the UK to Delhi
Day 2- Arrive late morning in Delhi and transfer to the Oberoi Maidens or similar. Rest of the day at leisure. Optional evening Dances of India show, the cookery demonstration with dinner or Red Fort Sound and Light show.
Day 3 - Begin the day with a fascinating morning orientation of Delhi, beginning with the narrow bustling streets, teeming colourfull bazaars and the outstanding Jama Masjid (Friday Mosque) of old Delhi. Later tour Lutyens new Delhi, stopping at the Ghandi memorial Rajghat and passing by the monument government buildings. Drive in the afternoon to Jaipur for two nights at the Hotel Mansingh
Day 4 - Drive out of Jaipur and visit the ancient imposing Amber Fort, perched high above the surrounding area. Later tour the 'Pink City' of Jaipur and visit the Royal Observatory and Maharajah's Palace with a photo oppertunity at the unique palace of the winds. Optional afternoon visit to a local charitable SOS childrens village
Day 5 - Drive in the morning to Ranthambore for a three night stay at the Regency. The rest of the day is yours to relax or explore Ranthambore at leisure.
Day 6 - Covering some 240 square miles of beautifull scenery, the national park boasts one of the countrys leading Tiger conservation efforts and is renowned as one of the best parks in India to spot this exclusive animal. You may be lucky enough to spot one during the two safaris in open top cantors into the park today, aswell as Leopards, Crocodiles and over 300 species of Bird.
Day 7 - Day at leisure, time to arrange optional drives in the park.
Day 8 - After breakfast enjoy a drive to Bharatpur, home to the Keoladeo National Park, considered to be Indias finest wetland bird sanctuary, Arrive and check in at the Laxmi Villas Palace for one night.
Day 9 - Visit the national on a cycle rickshaw and spend time spotting the amazing birdlife. Later make the short drive to the Fabled Agra for a one night stay at the hotel Mansingh. En Route, tour the deserted Moghul city of Fatehpur Sikri. Built by the Emperor Akbar in 1569 as his new Capital but later abandoned.
Day 10 - A highlight of your tour will be this mornings visit to the taj Mahal, Built by Shah Jahan as a memorial to his belovered wife Mumtaz. Later explore the fascinating Agra Fort. In the afternoon drive back to Delhi for one night at the Oberoi Maidens or similar. In the evening enjoy a farewell dinner in a local restaurant.
